At least 717 people died and 805 others were injured in a stampede of pilgrims Thursday in Mina, near Mecca, announced the Saudi civil defense services.
"The countdown (victims) is continuing and the death toll reached 717, of different nationalities," said Civil Defense on Twitter. The first assessment drawn up by the service, which was 100 dead and 390 injured, has repeatedly been reassessed.
